The Chicago Blackhawks, through trades, acquired three second-round picks in the 2016 NHL draft. The Andrew Shaw and Bryan Bickell/Teuvo Teravainen deals netted the Blackhawks all three of their second-round picks.
With the No. 39 overall pick, the Blackhawks selected Alex DeBrincat from the Erie Otters of the OHL. Some speculated he could have been a late first-round pick.

There were only two 50-goal scorers in the draft, and DeBrincat was one of them. DeBrincat netted his third straight 50-50-100 campaign in 2015-16, going 51-50-111 with the Otters.
While most teams are shy from drafting smaller players, the Blackhawks embrace those type of guys.
