Hamstrung by the salary cap, the Blackhawks were in no position to make splashy moves heading into Wednesday’s trade deadline.

Still, the ever-resourceful Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman managed to work out a pair of deals in the days leading up to the deadline, securing Tomas Jurco to provide some depth at forward and bringing back Johnny Oduya to insulate the group on defense.

Oduya, returning for his second stint with the Blackhawks, is now 35 years old. He joins a Blackhawks team that remains in win-now mode. Can the veteran blue liner offer much support for a defense corps with a variety of options?
