Cam Ward will return to Carolina where his NHL career began when the Blackhawks visit the Hurricanes on Monday night at PNC Arena.
Ward played his first 13 NHL seasons, including winning the 2006 Conn Smythe Trophy as Stanley Cup playoffs MVP, with the Hurricanes prior to signing with the Blackhawks in July. Carolina’s first-year head coach Rod Brind’Amour was the captain of the 2006 championship team with Ward.
The Hurricanes are expected to play a video tribute for Ward, who should start for a slumping Blackhawks team on a seven-game losing streak.
