Tomas Tatar scored a hat trick as the Detroit Red Wings topped the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-1, in preseason action Wednesday night at Joe Louis Arena.
Tatar opened the scoring off a backhanded pass from Brad Richards for a 1-0 lead with 8:30 left in the first period. Andrew Shaw then evened the score on a power play in the second period. Shaw sent a wrister past Jared Coreau, who was screened by Bryan Bickell, to make it a 1-1 game with 5:31 left in the second period.
