The Chicago Blackhawks traded AHL forwards Spencer Abbott and Sam Carrick to the Anaheim Ducks for prospect Kenton Helgesen and a seventh-round pick, reports TSN’s Darren Dreger. The move came in right at the buzzer, as ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun was the first to report on it, and that came over an hour after the official deadline time of 2 p.m. CT.
It was a quiet deadline day for the Blackhawks, who made their biggest moves earlier in the week. The team added Tomas Jurco from the Red Wings to bolster its forward depth, then made a bigger splash by bringing back Johnny Oduya in a deal with the Stars.
