The Blackhawks traded forward Nick Schmaltz to the Coyotes for winger Brendan Perlini and winger Dylan Strome on Sunday night in a deal involving three former first-round draft picks.
Schmaltz, the No. 20 overall pick in 2014, scored only two goals and 11 points in 23 games with Chicago. It was a slow start for the 22-year-old who scored 21 goals during his second season in 2017-18. He will stay with No. 8 with Arizona.
Perlini, who was selected No. 12 overall pick in 2014, has scored only two goals and six points in 22 games this season.
