Blackhawks trade Marcus Kruger to Vegas

The Blackhawks have traded center Marcus Kruger to the Vegas Golden Knights for future considerations.

Kruger, 27, played in 398 regular-season games and 87 playoff games over six-plus seasons with the Blackhawks. He played on two Stanley Cup championship teams. He was drafted by the Blackhawks in the fifth round in 2009.

Kruger became one of the league’s most utilized defensive centers during his time with the Blackhawks. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville trusted Kruger more than other Blackhawks forward to start in the neural and defensive over the last five seasons. Kruger also was the Blackhawks’ most used forward on the penalty kill.
