The Chicago Blackhawks have traded defenseman Jan Rutta and a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenseman Slater Koekkoek and a fifth-round pick in the upcoming draft.
Koekkoek is a left handed defenseman that has played in nine games with the Bolts this season. He has tallied one assist and has averaged 14:20 minutes of ice time. In his career with the Bolts he has played in 85 games and has five goals and nine assists. He has primarily been used as a third pairing defenseman whenever he is recalled from Tampa’s AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.
