Chad Krys decided to forego his senior season at Boston University and sign a three-year entry-level contract with the Blackhawks on Monday. The left-handed defenseman will join the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL for the remainder of the season on an amateur tryout agreement, according to Scott Powers of The Athletic.
Krys scored eight goals and 20 points in 30 games during his junior season. Krys, who turns 21 in April, racked up 20 goals and 58 points in 105 career games for the Terriers.
Krys was one of three draft picks by the Blackhawks in the second round in 2016.
