The Chicago Blackhawks have added another player to their forward group, signing Swedish forward Jacob Nilsson to a one-year deal on Thursday, according to the team’s website.
The 24-year-old center, who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 179 pounds, played in 40 games for Mora IK in Sweden during the 2017-18 hockey season, scoring eight goals with 10 assists. Before that, he had 20 goals and 22 assists while playing in 46 games during the 2016-17 season, helping Mora IK get promoted to the top division of Swedish hockey.
And the Blackhawks weren’t the only one after Nilsson:
If Nilsson ends up playing for the Rockford Ice Hogs this season — and that seems like the logical landing spot for Nilsson, considering the Hawks logjam of players and prospects at forward — he’ll have a familiar face behind the bench.
