Blackhawks sign AHL Rockford IceHogs' coach Ted Dent to 3-year extension

The Chicago Blackhawks signed Ted Dent, head coach of the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, to a three-year extension, which runs through the end of the 2018-19 season, the team announced Thursday.

Dent, 46, has guided the IceHogs to back-to-back Calder Cup Playoff appearances after missing the postseason in his first three seasons.

He served as an assistant coach for five seasons under Mike Haviland and Bill Peters before being he was promoted in 2011. During his time as an assistant with the Blackhawks organization, his teams have compiled a regular season record of 216-145-17-22 and qualified for the Calder Cup playoffs in four of the five seasons.
