The Blackhawks rewarded Rockford IceHogs head coach Ted Dent with a three-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday. He's played an important role in helping develep young players for the NHL.
The move comes three months after the Blackhawks gave head coach Joel Quenneville a three-year extension, keeping that continuity within the organization.
Dent has spent 10 seasons with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, and is currently in his fifth season as the head coach of Rockford.
After failing to make the postseason in his first three years, Dent has guided the IceHogs to back-to-back Calder Cup playoff appearances, which included a first-round sweep against the reigning champion Texas Stars in the first round last year.
