Blackhawks replacing traded picks, prospects in other ways

The Chicago Blackhawks will be waiting awhile to make their first selection at the upcoming NHL draft.

They traded their original first-round pick, the 22nd overall selection, to the Winnipeg Jets in the Andrew Ladd deal. The Blackhawks’ second-round pick is owned by the Philadelphia Flyers as part of last season’s trade for Kimmo Timonen. It won’t be until the second day and the third round of the draft that the Blackhawks will select their first player.

Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman has gotten more and more aggressive at the trade deadline with dealing picks and prospects in order to win immediately and capture another Stanley Cup.
