With Matthew Highmore leaving Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Blues due to an injury, the Chicago Blackhawks needed another forward for their NHL roster.
And they added one Tuesday morning by calling up forward Andreas Martinsen on an emergency basis from the Rockford Ice Hogs of the AHL.
Martinsen came to the Hawks in an October trade for Kyle Baun, and has spent the entire 2017-18 season with the Rockford Ice Hogs, scoring 12 goals with 14 assists in the 61 games he’s played.
A native of Norway, the 27-year-old Martinsen has played in 110 NHL games in his career, most of them with the Colorado Avalanche, with seven goals and 11 assists in those games.
