Blackhawks reassign defenseman Viktor Svedberg to AHL Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned defenseman Viktor Svedberg to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, the team announced Saturday.

Svedberg, 24, has tailed two goals and four points in 19 games with Chicago this season. He has one goal and 10 points in 30 games with Rockford during the current campaign. Chicago now has $268,135 in end of season and $1.246 million in trade deadline salary cap space, according to Fandanger.com.

The move frees up a roster spot for Christian Ehrhoff to be Chicago's seventh defenseman. Ehrhoff, who was acquired Friday in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings for Rob Scuderi, has recorded 10 points in 40 games with the Kings this season.
