Blackhawks put Brendan Perlini in concussion protocol

The Blackhawks have placed winger Brendan Perlini in concussion protocol, the team announced Saturday morning.

Perlini’s concussion likely occurred when he took a hard hit into the boards from Adam McQuaid in Chicago’s 4-3 loss to the Rangers on Thursday in New York City.

Chicago acquired Perlini in a November trade with Arizona that saw him and center Dylan Strome come to the Blackhawks in exchange for forward Nick Schmaltz.

Perlini has three goals and one assist in 23 games while playing in a bottom-six role since being traded to Chicago.
