Chicago Blackhawks prospect Tyler Motte will play for Team USA at the 2016 World Championships, USA Hockey announced Tuesday. The tournament will take place from May 6 through May 22 in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russia. New Jersey Devils coach John Hynes will serve as the Americans head coach for the tournament.
Motte, 21, signed an amateur tryout contract with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL last Friday just two days after signing a three-year entry-level contract, which begins in the 2016-17 season.
Motte, who is 5'9 and 193 pounds, finished his junior season with 32 goals and 24 assists in 38 games.
