Blackhawks center prospect Philipp Kurashev signed an amateur tryout contract with the team’s AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, on Thursday. He will report immediately to the IceHogs and wear No. 44 for the team.
Kurashev scored a goal with four assists and won 48.6 percent of his faceoffs in the Quebec Remparts’ seven-game first-round series loss to the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL playoffs. The 6-foot, 192-pound Kurashev led the Remparts in scoring with 29 goals and 65 points and won 52.9 percent of his faceoffs in 59 games during the regular season.
The 19-year-old scored a tournament-high six goals and finished seventh among all skaters with seven points for Switzerland at this year’s World Junior Championship.
