TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Chicago Blackhawks forward prospect Nick Schmaltz did not play Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Prospect Tournament and is day to day with an undisclosed injury.
Blackhawks rookie team coach Ted Dent said he expected Schmaltz to play in the team’s next game on Monday.
Schmaltz played throughout the Blackhawks’ game against the St. Louis Blues on Friday night and spoke to the media after the game.
Schmaltz, a Blackhawks’ 2014 first-round draft pick, turned pro earlier this offseason after completing his sophomore season at the University of North Dakota.
