The Blackhawks are going to be waiting for Maxim Shalunov for awhile.
Shalunov, whose NHL rights the Blackhawks own, will remain in the KHL for three more seasons after agreeing to a three-year deal with Sibir Novosibirsk, according to Shalunov’s agent Shumi Babaev on Saturday. Babaev said Shalunov will be traded to another KHL team in the next few days. CSKA and SKA were previously reported to be interested in Shalunov.
The Blackhawks will continue to hold Shalunov’s NHL rights as long as he remains on their reserve list because there is no transfer agreement between the KHL and NHL.
