The Blackhawks officially locked 21-year-old defenseman Ian Mitchell into a three-year, entry level contract earlier this month. Mitchell had been drafted by the Blackhawks in 2017, but decided to return to the University of Denver to play his junior season.
With college hockey cut short by COVID-19, Mitchell has his sights set on the future. He was recently interviewed on NHL.com where he shared which current Blackhawks he models his game after and how he wants to make an impact on the ice.

If next season were to start with any sort of regularity, Mitchell would want to hit the ice with the Hawks as soon as possible, citing breakout rookies like Adam Boqvist as inspiration.
