Chicago Blackhawks defenseman prospect Ian Mitchell was among 40 players named to Hockey Canada’s roster for the World Junior Summer Showcase on Wednesday.
The showcase will be July 28 to Aug. 4 in Kamloops, British Columbia, at the Sandman Centre. The week-long camp will include 11 international competitions between Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States.
Mitchell will be auditioning for a spot on Canada’s roster for the 2019 World Junior Championship, which runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2019, in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. The 2017 second-round pick by Chicago dished out two assists in five games for Canada at the 2018 under-18 WJC.
