WINDSOR, Ontario – Graham Knott would have normally joined the other Blackhawks prospects in the AHL at the end of his major junior season.
Knott, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound left winger, and the Windsor Spitfires were knocked out of the OHL playoffs in the first round in early April. At that time, the Rockford IceHogs’ season was still going on. But because the CHL’s Memorial Cup was being held in Windsor this season, Knott and the Spitfires had an automatic place in the tournament. And so, his pro career would have to wait.
Knott, a Blackhawks 2015 second-round pick, is now close to having the perfect ending to his junior career.
