The Blackhawks promoted Rockford IceHogs assistant coach Derek King to interim head coach Tuesday after Jeremy Colliton was named the head coach of the Blackhawks earlier in the day.
Fellow assistant coach and former Blackhawks player Sheldon Brookbank will remain on staff in Rockford.
The 33-year-old Colliton led the IceHogs to a 40-28-4-4 record and a berth in the Western Conference Final for the first time in franchise history last season.
King is in his third season with the IceHogs. Prior to joining the Blackhawks organization, he was an assistant and associate coach with the Toronto Marlies from 2009-15.
