The Blackhawks promoted AHL assistant coach Sheldon Brookbank to an NHL assistant on coach Jeremy Colliton’s staff, the team announced Friday.
Colliton now has three assistant coaches with Brookbank, Don Granto and Barry Smith.
Brookbank has served as an assistant coach for the Rockford IceHogs since June 2017 under Collition and Rockford interim coach Derek King. Anders Sorenson, who is in his fifth season as development coach for the Blackhawks, will replace Brookbank as an assistant under King.
Brookbank signed a two-year contract as a free agent with Chicago in July 2012 then went on to win the Stanley Cup with the team in 2013.
