Blackhawks place Marcus Kruger on injured reserve, recall Luke Johnson from AHL

For the third time in two weeks, the Blackhawks placed a player on injured reserve as they go through concussion protocol. On Wednesday morning, it was forward Marcus Kruger that was placed on IR, retroactive to Dec. 18, and forward Luke Johnson was recalled from the AHL.

Kruger sustained a concussion and received stitches after a hit by Predators forward Ryan Hartman in the second period of Chicago’s 2-1 win Tuesday.

Kruger left the game and did not return. He has four goals and an assist in 33 games this season.
