Blackhawks place goaltender Anton Forsberg on waivers

The Blackhawks placed the 25-year-old Swedish goaltender on waivers Monday morning. Chicago will only carry two netminders on its roster with Corey Crawford and Cam Ward, who signed a one-year contract worth $3 million and a no-movement clause.

Ward helped the Blackhawks start the season 3-0-2 while Crawford made his return from a concussion. Despite Ward being 34 years old and well past the peak years of his career, head coach Joel Quenneville opted not to play Forsberg during the five-game stretch that included a back-to-back.

Forsberg was 10-16-4 with a 2.
