The Chicago Blackhawks placed defenseman David Rundblad on waivers Monday, according to TVA's Renaud Lavoie.
Rundblad, 25, has three goals and 11 assists in 49 games for the Blackhawks this season. If unclaimed and sent to AHL Rockford, the Hawks would save $950,000 in salary cap space. $100,000 of his $1.05 million would still count, according to CapFriendly.
If Rundblad clears waivers, he will be sent to Rockford. He can also be claimed by another team, as Viktor Tikhonov was earlier this season by the Arizona Coyotes.
