The Blackhawks placed winger Andreas Martinsen on waivers Thursday, reports Scott Powers of The Athletic.
Martinsen has one goal and three assists in 24 games this season with Chicago. The 28-year-old has played a limited role on the fourth line, swapping in and out of the lineup with John Hayden.
The big-bodied Martinsen (6-foot-3, 229 pounds) signed a one-year contract extension worth $650,000 in June after scoring one goal and recording 35 hits in nine NHL games with Chicago. He also posted 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 64 AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs.
