Blackhawks offense stopped by Holtby, Capitals in loss

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For a while, it looked like the Blackhawks were headed for their second shutout loss in as many nights. They avoided that, but they couldn’t avoid their second loss in as many days.

Viktor Svedberg scored his first career NHL goal but Braden Holtby stopped everything else as the Washington Capitals beat the Blackhawks 4-1 on Thursday night at the Verizon Center.

T.J. Oshie, John Carlson, Matt Niskanen and Alex Ovechkin scored for the Capitals.

The Blackhawks got off to a very slow start once again on Thursday. They didn’t get a shot on Holtby until nearly 10 minutes had passed in the game (Viktor Svedberg).
