The Blackhawks “might be thinking about” acquiring Sam Gagner, reports Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman in his 31 Thoughts column.
As a free agent, Gagner chose the Canucks over the Blackhawks in the 2017 offseason and signed a three-year contract worth $9.45 million with Vancouver. The center was coming off a strong season with the Blue Jackets where he scored 18 goals and 50 points in 81 games. He also had six goals and 15 points on the power play.
In his first season with Vancouver, he tallied 10 goals and 31 points in 74 games.
