CHICAGO -- Injured forward Marcus Kruger has agreed to a $9.25 million, three-year contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks that runs through the 2018-19 season.
The 25-year-old Kruger had left wrist surgery in December, but is expected to return before the start of the playoffs. He will make $3,475,000 in each of the next two years, and $2.3 million in the final season.
Kruger, a fifth-round pick in the 2009 draft, signed a one-year deal before this season.
Kruger, who made his NHL debut in 2011, has developed into a versatile performer who helps kill penalties and often draws difficult defensive assignments.
