Blackhawks hire Marc Crawford as assistant coach

The Blackhawks named Marc Crawford an assistant coach for Jeremy Colliton’s staff Tuesday afternoon.

Crawford, 58, comes to Chicago with 18 seasons of NHL coaching experience, including 1,169 games as head coach. He won the Stanley Cup in 1996 with the Avalanche and holds a 556-431-182 all-time NHL coaching record.

Crawford most recently served as interim head coach for the Senators this past spring. He led Ottawa to a 7-10-1 record to close out last season before D.J. Smith was hired from the Maple Leafs to be the Senators head coach for next season.
