Blackhawks goaltender Anton Forsberg clears waivers, heads to AHL

The Blackhawks will assign goaltender Anton Forsberg to the AHL after he cleared waivers Tuesday.

Forsberg was placed on waivers after the Blackhawks were encouraged by Corey Crawford’s performance through two games coming back from a 10-month absence due to a concussion. Cam Ward, who signed a one-year deal worth $3 million with a no-movement clause, helped the Blackhawks start the season 3-0-2 while Crawford sat out. Forsberg did not play during the five-game stretch before Crawford’s return despite Chicago having a back-to-back.

Forsberg was 10-16-4 with a 2.
