Blackhawks goaltending prospect Kevin Lankinen underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder on Monday and is expected to return in four-to-five months, the Rockford IceHogs announced Thursday.
Lankinen was Rockford’s lone representative at the 2020 AHL All-Star Game after a strong first half of the season.
The 24-year-old Finnish native went 8-10-2 with a 3.03 goals-against average and .909 save percentage in 21 appearances this season. He stopped all 16 shots in the first period against the Manitoba Moose on Feb. 13 before exiting with an injury.
Lankinen is set to become a restricted free agent this summer and he’s eligible for arbitration.
