The Chicago Blackhawks have expressed interest in re-signing free agent forward Dale Weise, reports The Athletic's Scott Powers. Weise's agent, Allain Roy, told Powers that "there is interest, but not sure what they will have cap-room wise."
Weise and fellow veteran forward Tomas Fleischmann were acquired from the Montreal Canadiens last season in exchange for Phillip Danault and a second-round pick. The high cost makes that deal look questionable in hindsight considering the relative impact of the two rentals before Chicago got eliminated in the first round, but apparently the team liked what it saw in Weise enough to want him back.
