Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Christian Ehrhoff will represent Germany at the 2016 World Championships, the German Ice Hockey Federation announced. The tournament will take place from May 6 through May 22 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.
"I've always said that I will play anytime for national, if all goes well," Ehrhoff said in the release. "For me it's an honor to wear the German jersey. I want to play my part that we play a good World Championship."
Ehrhoff, 33, recorded no goals and two assists in eight games for Chicago after being acquired in February in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Rob Scuderi.
