Fans wearing headdresses will no longer be prohibited at Blackhawks-sanctioned events or the United Center when home games return, the team announced Wednesday.
The decision comes after the Blackhawks said July 7 that they will keep their name and Native American logo. The Blackhawks are among a few North American professional sports team with a Native-American based name and logo that faced renewed pressure to make a change earlier this month. The NFL’s Washington Redskins are the only team among the group to change course and debut a new name, Washington Football Team, at this time.
