The Chicago Blackhawks assigned defenseman David Rundblad to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, the team announced today. Rundblad was on loan by the Blackhawks to the ZSC Lions of Switzerland’s National League A.
Rundblad, 25, notched two assists in nine games with the Blackhawks this season. The native of Lycksele, Sweden registered 16 points (3G, 13A) in 63 regular games over three seasons with Chicago (2013-15). The 2015 Stanley Cup champion also appeared in five 2015 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Over his five-year NHL career, Rundblad has scored 25 points (4G, 21A) in 113 career games with Ottawa (2011-12), Phoenix (2011-2014) and Chicago (2014-16).
