Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville will have options come training camp.
Some of those options may not be as experienced or as talented as Quenneville would like, but they’re options nonetheless.
Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman added to Quenneville’s arsenal on Thursday by re-signing forward Brandon Mashinter and defenseman Michal Rozsival to one-year deals. Mashinter’s cap hit is reportedly $575,000 and Rozsival’s cap hit is $600,000.
Mashinter, who played in 41 NHL games last season, can be added to the list of bottom-6 options for Quenneville. Marcus Kruger and Andrew Desjardins have spots already. On the third and fourth lines, the other possibilities are Richard Panik, Vinnie Hinostroza, Ryan Hartman, Mark McNeill, Tanner Kero, Tyler Motte, Martin Lundberg and Kyle Baun.
