The NHL draft is heading back to Vancouver for the first time since 2006, and just like back then the Blackhawks hold the No. 3 overall pick after moving up nine spots in the draft lottery.
Back in 2006, the Blackhawks selected University of North Dakota freshman Jonathan Toews, who became one of the top 100 players in NHL history, a Triple Gold club member, 2010 Conn Smythe winner and three-time Stanley Cup champion.
Chicago general manager Stan Bowman has seven picks for this year’s draft, including at least one in every round except for the third and two picks in the fourth.
