Maxim Shalunov will need some convincing, but he’s open to the possibility of signing with the Chicago Blackhawks, according to his agent Shumi Babaev.
The Blackhawks drafted Shalunov, a 23-year-old forward, in the fourth round in 2011 and have retained his rights while he’s played in the KHL the past three seasons. He’s currently tied for 13th in the KHL with 0.86 points per game and has 17 goals and 15 assists in 37 games.
Shalunov is under contract with Sibir Novosibirsk until the end of the current KHL season. Babaev said he and Shalunov will discuss his next step in the coming months.
