Adam Boqvist will likely play in the Chicago Blackhawks’ final three preseason games, coach Joel Quenneville told Scott Powers of The Athletic on Sunday.
Boqvist, who turned 18 in August, will try to make his case to Quenneville and the Hawks to take a spot on the team’s opening-night roster in front of the United Center crowd. Chicago plays all three of its final preseason contests this week at home.
Boqvist’s play early in the preseason and injuries to Connor Murphy (back) and Jan Rutta (groin) have helped give the Hawks’ first-round draft pick added time on the ice to compete for a roster spot.
