As if it weren’t already clear that the Bears planned to change punt returners, the team made Ted Ginn inactive 90 minutes prior to Sunday’s game against the Saints at Soldier Field.
Dwayne Harris, whom the Bears signed to the practice squad earlier this week and promoted to the active roster Saturday, will return punts.
In nine seasons, Harris has returned 180 punts. His 14.1 yards per return average in 2018, as a member of the Raiders, was the best in the NFL.
The Bears were disappointed with Ginn’s performance in returning punts regularly for the first time since 2017.
