Young experienced an up and down season in 2016. He lived in the backfield during some games, but put on a disappearing act in others. His 7.5 sacks on the season led the team, but he earned 5.0 of those sacks in two games against poor offensive lines. However, some of that inconsistency wasn’t Young’s fault.
The Bears began their season without their featured pass rusher, Pernell McPhee. Additionally, rookie Leonard Floyd dealt with injuries and a steep learning curve coming into the NFL. With the depleted pass rushing corps, Young took more snaps at the beginning of the year.
