Virginia McCaskey — you, and you alone, know more about the Bears than anyone alive.
You know what your father, George Stanley Halas/Papa Bear/originator of the NFL/first Bears owner/coach/ player, knew just before he passed away when he took action that resulted in a Super Bowl Victory by the 1985 Bears.
Halas knew what was wrong with the Bears. He knew the team needed a great quarterback in order to win a Super Bowl.
Halas’ general manager, Jim Finks, stated publicly on numerous occasions that he did not believe having a terrific quarterback was necessary to succeed, in spite of the Minnesota Vikings never winning any of the four Super Bowls while he was GM.
