Update: Bears actually keep Connor Shaw

In a move that will surprise a few Chicago Bears’ fans, it was reported that the team is waiving quarterback Connor Shaw to make room for the newly signed Victor Cruz.

Cruz agreed in principle to a one year, $2 million contract last week, and that will become official once he signs on the dotted line. To make room for the 30-year-old Cruz, the Bears had to lop a player of off their 90 man roster, and a fourth quarterback made sense to part ways with.

With their big ticket, free agent pickup Mike Glennon, rookie first-round draft pick Mitchell Trubisky, and veteran free agent Mark Sanchez all in need of reps to prepare for the 2017 season, releasing Shaw was a logical decision.
