The Chicago Bears did what every football fan with a pulse expected this weekend: they declined the fifth-year option in quarterback Mitch Trubisky's contract.
It's an unfortunate next chapter in Trubisky's generally underwhelming tenure since joining the Bears as the second overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. Yes, the same draft that produced Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, both of whom were selected after Mitch.
It's become an unbearable punchline in the joke that the Trubisky pick now is.
Twitter, of course, was alive and well with Trubisky commentary.
