Trevathan's suspension reduced to one game

The two-game suspension that Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan received for an illegal hit on Packers receiver Davante Adams last Thursday night has been reduced to one game by the NFL.

Trevathan appealed the suspension, which came after the veteran linebacker delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit on Adams that drew a 15-yard penalty in the Bears' 35-14 loss in Green Bay.

Trevathan now will be eligible to return to the Bears' active roster next Tuesday, one day after the team's Monday night game against the Vikings at Soldier Field.

The NFL said that Trevathan violated Rule 12, Section 2, Article 6 (i), which starts that "there shall be no unnecessary roughness.
