AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — For Eric Moreland, the spoils linked with becoming an NBA fixture are within reach, dangling in front of him like a carrot on a stick, as he works to prove worthy of such a limited occupation.
The 6-foot-10 forward/center hopped in his car Friday morning and made it to the Detroit Pistons' practice facility in Auburn Hills for another day of work. He left still with a job.
Tomorrow isn't guaranteed for Moreland. And neither is the next day. The uncertainty of securing status as an NBA mainstay, the $1-million paycheck, will remain a question until the Pistons open the regular season on Oct.
